Well, it took a few months, but finally this fall we had something to show for all the tender loving care we gave these little guys. We have since really enjoyed the variety of colors and sizes (from double-yolks to miniature) eggs we get to pluck from their nesting box every morning.
Here, each of the kids pick their favorite egg. This then becomes their breakfast.

Oh, my kids are so deprived! You and Mom have inspired me beyond your wildest dreams to get chickens, and I'm counting down the days until we can pick out our favorite egg and make it be our breakfast. The wholesome side of life, indeed! Cute ones of Jack and Kate with their eggs too.
P. S. Did you ever find Frog, the mangy chicken? I was worried about him. Hopefully he hasn't gone the way of his miniature eggs, and become something's breakfast...
